Hey everyone!
My name is Laura and I will be the President of the Board 10 of U-BASE. My background is Croatian, but I have been born in Rotterdam, and have lived here for part of my childhood. My family and I moved to Croatia when I was 10, and after finishing high school there, I decided to come back to the Netherlands for studies. After completing the bachelor here in Delft, I started with the master Structural Engineering in 2022. Currently I am working on my Thesis, which focuses on strengthening of steel bridges.
In my first year with U-BASE, I was part of the Education Committee, where I learned the value of U-BASE for education, due to the feedback loop with professors regarding courses. During the second year I joined the Value of Design committee. We organised a symposium that connects architecture and civil engineering. This is quite some task and we had some bumps in the road. But it was very rewarding to successfully organise such a big event!
In my free time I like to be active, by going to the gym and trying out different sports activities. Unfortunately there are no mountains in the Netherlands, but I love to go for hiking vacations in summer. I like reading and, even more, buying books. I enjoy travelling and recently started going on last-minute solo trips.
As the President of U-BASE, I will be responsible for planning all of our wonderful events throughout the year, as well as ensuring that our goals and initiatives are reached.
