Sricharan Dakka

Hi, Hello, Namaste!
I’m Dakka Sricharan. You can call me Dakka, although it's my surname and that’s because I believe a 2-syllable name is easier. I was born and brought up in Tirupati, a pilgrim city in the Southern part of India. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from IIT Bombay in 2019 after which I worked for 4 years as a Bridge Engineer in Mumbai. Last year I started my Master's in Structural Engineering and did a specialization in Structural Dynamics. For this academic year 2024-2025, I will be the Commissioner of Education of Board 10.

I have also been part of the Education Committee during my 1st year. I was responsible for organizing the quarterly CCB. My work involved approaching the professors to present their research topics so that students could get an opportunity to listen to and maybe even participate. I enjoyed all the activities organized by the association. Being part of U-BASE gave me the chance to meet new people and learn about new customs and traditions that I would otherwise not know.

I like listening to Music (not your usual kind), playing badminton, watching cricket, and trying my hand at cooking various Indian recipes. I tend to make it a teeny bit spicy to increase the spice tolerance of my international friends.

As the Education Commissioner, I am looking forward to, together with the education committee, translating the feedback from the students to the instructors and improving our Master's programme. I will also work hard to make sure that every member of U-BASE feels heard when it comes to their education. Feel free to approach me any time with any questions or comments about the/Ur education!
